Africa - Kenya, Masai Mara, Uganda & Mombasa

Right need to get things moving. Although I don't have enough time to put comments on the Pictures. I need to get them up. These Pictures were taken about a year ago. Went on a large family holiday. 9 People in total but it was lots of fun. Sorry I went a bit crazy and lots of pictures are similar, but I was just trying to get the amazing landscapes and sunrises. Comments to come up soon......I hope.   Then followed by pics from the first two weeks using my new phone.

Enjoy.

The Hotel in Lake Victoria, Serena. This place was lovely, I think it was quite new. We were originally supposed to stay in the Serena in Kampala but due to a mix up ended up in this one. It was out of the way and hardly had anyone there, we pretty much had the place all to ourselves.

Another mixup with transportation. Instead of a mini van we were given a 24 seater coach for the 9 of us. We wern't complaining!

IM RICHHHHH BITCHHHH!

So they had white water rafting in Jinja. I really wanted to go till we got there and saw what looked like a couple of blokes who had just chipped in to get a dinghy with no proper Safety equipment. I wasn't quite ready to die just yet.

Being a meat eater I was shocked and fascinated to see how they store and sell their meat. I hope the meat I ate at the hotel wasn't from one of these places!

Jumbo King Prawns! I have big hands and these prawns were huge, really wish I had got to try them.

I think it was Nairobi where we stayed at the Interncontinental. This was while the World Cup was on. They had a projector outside, projecting on to one side of the hotel. You could see it from outside the hotel walls. It was quite cool.

Why did the Rhinos cross the Road?   Answers on a postcard please.

Loved these trees.

We stopped off at a few places in the middle of nowhere where these tourist shops were setup. These pictures are just from my phone as with all the rest on this blog. But I also went crazy with my Canon Camera. I might put them up in another section on here. Because some of the masks & artefacts were just plain scary, others were just amazing.  The skill and time put into them is quite something.

Road Kill

I was hoping to have a DSLR for the time we went on this holiday but alas I still don't have one. I think I missed out on an opportunity to take some great pics. The scenery and landscapes in Africa are amazing and these pics from my phone really don't do it any justice.   One day I will have a DSLR.  Apologies if they get a bit boring, just got trigger happy.

Lioness sleeping with her cubs.

Early morning on the first day of Safari. Got out just before the sun did. I have to admit these pics don't look that great here, but when I was taking them on my phone, one the smaller screen they looked really good.

The next hew pics haven't been photoshoped. In fact none of my pictures have been  photoshopped. I did use the features on the phone to take different snaps. Can't remember what setting this was but I think the pics look good with it.

Again a DSLR with a good lense would have been good here, there is actually a lepoard with it's kill up in the tree here.

Baby lion cubs feasting on a carcus.

Mombassa, I forget the name of the Hotel. It was supposed to be 5*. Maybe the resort as a whole would get a 4* and that’s me being generous. But the rooms themselves were barely 2* I wrote a scathing report on trip advisor for this one.  I did like the lights however, I'm sure you can start to see a reoccurring theme here.

My memory is quite crap sorry. Went to eat at a well known and classy Sea food place. The picture above the pic of the food is the view had while eating lunch.

Think Sakonis and it's pretty much what you get at this place.
